The Hamburger Helper Mascot Just Dropped a Fire Mixtape

The Hamburger Helper Mascot Just Dropped a Fire Mixtape

Earlier this month the rap game was set ablaze by a mixtape from an unexpected new artist: Lefty, the cartoon glove mascot for Hamburger Helper. Its title, Watch The Stove, is a reference to the Jay Z and Kanye West album Watch The Throne. Like any parody album worth its salt, all five songs are brimming over with references to the meaty dinner product; what separates this from other joke mixtapes, however, is the clear amount of effort that went into creating legitimate rap records. Watch The Stove puts hip-hop first and humor a close second—so much so that songs like "Feed The Streets" and "In Love with the Glove" could be spun in clubs and nobody would catch on. Maybe the mixtape works so well because lyrical content has become relatively deemphasized in trap music lately; regardless, Lefty has cooked up a certified classic with this one. Preheat your headphones to 350 and prepare to have your ears melted.
